Hybrid and engineered timber flooring offer flexible installation options and can often be floated over existing level tiles or timber floors, provided the existing surface is suitable. This can make them a practical solution for renovations, with less preparation required.
Solid timber flooring generally requires more preparation. Existing tiles must be removed before installation. Depending on the subfloor, solid timber can be trowel-glued and secret-nailed directly onto a suitable yellow tongue particleboard subfloor.
When installing solid timber over a concrete slab, a moisture barrier is installed first, followed by plywood mechanically fixed to the slab. The selected timber flooring is then installed over the plywood.
Our team can assess your existing floors and subfloor conditions to recommend the most suitable installation method for your home.
